24th Annual RIE Infant/Toddler Conference
The 24th Annual RIE Infant/Toddler Conference for Parents and Professionals will take place April 6, 2013 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles with keynote speaker, Deborah J. Leong, PhD. The title of the Conference is Protecting Free Play in the Earliest Years: What We Can Do." In addition to the keynote, there will be two breakout sessions with opportunities for beginning and advanced learners to deepen their understanding of Magda Gerber's Educaring Approach.   For further information about the Conference and to register, go to rie.org/conference.

California Department of Education Seeking Child Development Division Director/CEA
The California Department of Education (CDE) is currently recruiting for the Director of the Child Development Division (CDD). CDE Division Directors are an integral part of the CDE’s leadership team. The Director is responsible for leading the implementation of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s priorities and initiatives to ensure children have access to high quality early learning programs so that they thrive in their early learning settings and succeed in kindergarten and beyond. The CDD provides leadership and support to contractors and the child development community, ensuring high quality early education programs are provided to children ages birth to 13 years. The division develops policies, disseminates policies, and provides program guidance through leadership efforts, administers all programs focused on child development, and establishes accountability efforts to ensure educational goals and program requirements are being met. The director interacts and communicates with a diverse group of stakeholders, including contractors, families, community members, professional organizations, public/non-public agencies, and the State Legislature.
